What’s next to my being a private duty nurse?

Last July 25, 2008, our three-month training as nurses at Davao Regional Hospital ended, and after a week I have finally gotten my training certificate. It doesn’t look good, honestly. But anyway, it will be useful for me especially in applying jobs related to nursing.

And now that the training is over, I planned of applying as a clinical instructor (C.I.) to our former clinical instructor, who is now a dean of Nursing at Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, as my friend Marc told me to, believing that the three months of training in the hospital, plus my credentials, will suffice for me to hired.

But since I still have some things to finish here before actually considering into applying as a C.I., I opted to take the opportunity which my former classmate told me, that is to become a private duty nurse. I took the job, and it will pay me 6,500 pesos a month (8 hours a day, 6 days a week). It’s not very huge, I know, but because I really desire to undergo the IV therapy training first before applying as a C.I., then I just took this job, so as not to be “unemployed”.

So far, I am quite enjoying my being a private duty nurse. My patient, who has type II diabetes mellitus, is recovering very well. In fact, today he will be discharged from a long period (about 2 months) of being confined in different hospitals. The first day I attended to him he was really week and pathetic. But now he appears more okay, and I am glad.

Tonight, as I go on with my duty, it may be in their house that I shall go to, as he will be already discharged. And he gets full recovery, then he might no longer needs my service. And by that time, I have to consider other jobs. Sigh. Why aren’t there too many jobs in the country to occupy people?

Same here, Ate J. Been kind of busy. I don’t do the usual bloghopping anymore. I need to do that again and again to connect once again to my friends in the blogosphere. I am not so active in the blogosphere now. :( I hope I have all the time in the world.
