What about circumcision?

The Pinoy Big Brother Issue

Kevin Flood of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus

Circumcision appears rather a hot issue in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus these days. Two of the PBB boys, Alex Anselmuccio and Kevin Flood, who came primarily from Europe, entered the house of Kuya with their European belief and culture of being uncut, although that has nothing to be focused about. It is in Europe where most boys are not circumcised, or where circumcision is not mandatory at all, as far as my knowledge and conviction tell me (thanks to the times I sneaked on my brother’s rather naughty video collections).

Alex decided to have his circumcision a couple of days ago, with the belief of being accepted socially (in Philippines) and also to help hundred Filipino kids circumcised for free. Kevin, during those days, kept his being uncut secret until some circumstances surfaced.

Kevin’s Test

One day Kevin awoke wetting up another housemate’s (Nikki’s) bed, and scrambled to wash and dry the mattress with the help of Alex. He then approached Kuya to confess personally this incident, and Kuya perfectly understood him and didn’t blame him for that. When consulted about this mishap, a resident psychologist, Dr. Randy Dellosa, explained that this can happen normally as a result of very deep sleep, stress or tension, a relationship problem, or repressed rebellion. Kevin said it was a reaction towards the pressure of his dad’s presence and the nominations.

Kevin crying before Kuya

Knowing perfectly about Kevin’s being uncut, Kuya gave Kevin an offer that tested his personal convictions, that of undergoing circumcision. But unlike Alex, Kevin doesn’t find the need to undergo such operation. Even Kevin’s father, John, tried convincing his son that if he did that he would he helping a hundred more Filipino kids to be circumcised free of charge. Their conversation swelled into a heated argument, with exchange of harsh, filthy words towards each other. But Kevin stood firm to his decision under pressure, to the point of deciding to voluntarily exit and just go back home, which he immediately consulted Kuya for. He couldn’t help but cry, because he knew people may not like him for his decision: one, for refusing to help the 100 kids for free circumcision, and two it is uncommon in the Pinoy culture.

His belief stood firm and strong and that he didn’t want to compromise it for the sake of being like– something Kuya appreciated and respected of him. Kuya also explained that although it is the Filipino culture that males be circumcised, not every Filipino boy or male is cut.

Pinoys’ Narrow-mindedness

In my opinion, when time comes that Kevin leaves the house, either by eviction or natural termination of the show, he really may be disliked by some Filipinos, and would be talked about frequently because of his being uncut. Unnatural for a Filipino boy, he might have a bad image to the public as I believe the Filipino society is still narrow-minded and has a lot to learn from many areas of life. He may be teased “supot!” (Filipino word for uncut) with utter maliciousness, especially by kids (and even young adults) who by their social environment learned that being uncut is gross or unaccepted.

Medical Implications and False Beliefs

Should a male really have to go circumcision?

Many Filipinos believe that a boy should be circumcised to facilitate growing up. This is wrong. The cutting of foreskin is not the answer to growth, but the hormones themselves and the nutritional status a person has.

Some Filipinos too disgust at the thought of someone being uncut. They think it’s really gross, yucky, filthy, whatever unhealthy words they can give to it. It’s true; it really would be filthy if the uncut is of the “common” Filipino case, the low-profiles, the underprivileged, as they tend to be lacking self-care. But with someone like Kevin, it wouldn’t be gross at all, and although medical findings revealed that uncut men can get, harbor and spread sexually transmitted diseases more than the cut men, the uncut can prevent this by regarding his hygiene as a priority.

The Bible’s Say

Circumcision was only mentioned in the Old Testament as an act of covenant with Abraham and the Lord, that all his descendants be circumcised. In the New Testament, the pact was rather forgotten or obsolete. This is the reason why some males today do not really need to go undergo such procedure.

The Penis’s Physical Look

What does a circumcised penis differ to a circumcised willy? Only the foreskin. But here’s the trick, once the uncut penis erects, the foreskin retracts to reveal a look that resembles exactly like the circumcised penis. So why worry over an uncut tool, ladies, gentlemen? The look is the same, and so is the pleasure.

Your Choice

It is really up to you whether to undergo such procedure. If you cannot stand the oddity of Filipino narrow-mindedness, of being spited, then have yourself or your sons circumcised. But if you think this is no big importance, then forget circumcision. In the end, what matters is not how your dick looks. It’s on how you use it. LOL.

not necessarily, but the likelihood to be dirty is great. but if you put particular attention to your hygiene then there’s not a chance to be dirty at all

Bravo Kevin! How dare anyone even suggest that he have the most sensitive part of his penis cut off to suit their prejudice!? Three-quarters of the world’s men are as they were born, and most of us would have to be paid a large sum of money to have it any other way. Intact (whole, natural, not “un-” anything) men are the lucky ones - why do you think no culture on earth cuts adult men who have known the joys of a foreskin, except under extreme duress, as in the military? No, they cut babies and boys who can’t fight back.

Pinoys who are supót are starting to get together through the Internet and stand up for themselves. Here’s a page to start from: http://www.circumstitions.com/Philippines.html

Two comments on your post, Zang.

* The New Testament comes down against circumcision, Paul saying “If you are circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.” (Gal 5 2) So does the Catholic Church, see http://www.circumstitions.com/Xy.html#catholic

* The look is not quite the same, see http://www.circumstitions.com/comparison (NSFW)
nor is the pleasure, see http://www.circumstitions.com/Sexuality.html

this is a very comprehensive comment, and informative too! thanks Hugh! all that i put in my post is based solely on my opinion, observations and personal belief, so reading your very detailed comment taught me a lot. thanks, once again. I appreciate your effort and taking time to put in a long string of words. bravo to you, also, and not only to Kevin…

Comment on Hugh7’s comment:

The necessity for circumcision disappeared in the New Testament. In the book of Acts, some brethren were arguing over the need to circumcise gentiles who’d recently joined the Church. They decided to consult the Church’s elders and it was finally ruled that circumcision is irrelevant to one’s salvation. (I cannot provide you the exact Bible verses; look it up if you please! ^__^)

Zang Caesar reply on April 20th, 2008 9:39 pm:

this is also what I believed in because, although I did not see the verse/s myself, i am sure there was someone who told me circumcision in the New Testament was rather being disregarded as important

In any case, circumcision is part of Pinoy culture. I actually expected this to go away, what with the Philippines awash with 21st technology and culture. I guess we won’t part ways with our firm beliefs regarding this rite of passage, that fact being a living testament to the enduring Filipino culture.

Zang Caesar reply on April 21st, 2008 12:44 am:

yes, indeed this is something that has lived up through the generations, even when most men of the world, three-quarters as Hugh7 says, is uncut.

Not just in the Philippines, but whereever it is practised, it is locked in, not because it’s a “a living testament to the enduring” (Muslim, US American, Filipino, South Korean, tribal African, Jewish, Eastern Polynesian or Australian Aboriginal) “culture” but because adults who have had it done to them do it to children, who grow up to be adults who do it to children. It’s that imbalance that keeps it going. If adults did it to adults, the ones it was being done to would be in a much better position to question it. (And they’d find the answers were not good enough for them to agree to it.)

[Reply]

Zang Caesar reply on April 21st, 2008 2:38 pm:

well that may be true, when they’d question about it they may not get answers good enough to fully understood why it must be done, but because it is what’s socially accepted then they give in to the “enduring culture” to be liked, accepted, respected and be one with the community they are in.

And as far as circumcision goes, my better half is uncut and I LOVE the sextra skin on him. I wouldn’t want him to get cut for all the money in the world.

Don’t adults know better than young people who have practically no sense of right and wrong? Is it not true then that adults’ decision to circumcise their children is made in good faith?

Plus, it is ultimately up to the parent (or supervising adult) to decide whether or not his/her young one should lose his foreskin. Circumcision is nowadays more of a sanitary precaution than it is a cultural precaution. If you want to be circumcised, then fine. If you’d prefer not to part ways with your much-loved foreskin, then that is perfectly alright, as well. (Unless, of course, Congress passes a bill mandating all uncut males in the Philippines to get circumcised.)

Zang Caesar reply on April 23rd, 2008 6:17 pm:

well yes, circumcision is mostly a parent’s decision, especially if the decision is to be made when the son to be circumcised is at a young and not so decisive age.

I’m Paolo a young physician from Italy; I support circumcision cause I underwent it some years ago when I was 15 y.o. and the complete removal of foreskin gives only benefits: it improves also erection, cleanliness and intercourse.
I would explain Kevin how many advantages the uncovered glans gives and he could come back to the Philippines to allow a new mass circumcision for free in the future. He would be very glad.

Zang Caesar reply on August 28th, 2008 7:01 pm:

You would explain to Kevin? You would actually do that? Are you serious about this? If so, then that’s good. I too am circumcised, and I love to see cocks that are circumcised over the non-circumcised. The former looks a lot cleaner

Well, that’s good to hear as my partner, as most Pinoys are, is circumsized.

And it is very interesting to hear that it has sexual advantages other than the more common knowledge on the hygiene thing.

And as I have known (through reading), the helmet-like part of the penis have a lot of nerve endings making them more sensitive. So it might also be more pleasurably tingling for men without the foreskin. But that’s just what I’ve read about and own opinion. :)

Zang Caesar reply on September 13th, 2008 9:53 pm:

even with the foreskin on, it retracts during erection, thereby exposing the dickhead, which you say has a lot of nerve endings. for me, circumcised or not, it is just the same. but i’d rather be and have a penis circumcised
