Them Doctors’ (and nurses’) “Black” Days: Cebu’s Black Suede Canister in Rectum Scandal

Black Suede Body Spray put in a man\'s rectum after sexual intercourse

Black Suede Body Spray

Now how would Teri Hatcher react if she watched the sick Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center video scandal, a.k.a “Cebu Black Suede Scandal”?

We can’t blame her; some Filipino health team workers don’t live up to the oaths they took as sworn to their profession, especially some doctors and staff of the above-mentioned hospital.

The Victim’s Ordeal

The story started out with Jon (not his real name), 39, getting drunk one night, bringing a callboy to his pad after the latter offered him sex for a cheap one hundred peso fee, and eventually had sexual intercourse with the man. After a round of a male to male action, the callboy requested for a second round after being criticized by Jon for the size of his sex organ. Jon refused, yet the man persisted, this time using a body spray canister, and Jon fell asleep.

The morning he woke up, Jon felt painful inside him, which was even more painful when he tried to urinate.

Jon did not actually reported his problem immediately to his family, lest the news will just ruin their New Year’s Eve. So he let the holiday passed and came clean the next day, wherein his family then brought him to the hospital for the check-up.

So Went the Operation

Jon was scheduled for operation the following day after the doctors found out a foreign object inside him. It was kind of awkward for him as the doctors and nurses kept asking him how it felt and why did it happen.

In the operating room, pre-operatively, Jon complained there were too many people inside the OR but after the anesthesia was administered, he almost immediately fell to sleep.

He was discharged three days after and had thought his ordeal ceased right there and then. But when he came back on the 18th of the same month to get his medical records, a doctor confessed to him they had videotaped the operation and assured him that all records and documents pertaining to his operation will be kept confidential.

Confidential?

If this is their idea of confidentiality, then the doctors, nurses and staff who were in this video had just violated Jon’s rights as a patient. The video was not only uploaded in YouTube, but has also spread through mobile phones and emails.

Press Charges

Brgy. Captain Tumulak, the first one who informed Jon about the video leakage, helped Jon press charges against the medical personnel who were involved in the video. Although Jon’s face did not actually show up in the video, Jon still feels ashamed because many of his colleagues knew it was him and because of the video, she stopped mingling with his friends.

Doctor, are you sick?

We cannot blame those countries who look down at how our medical teams operate these days, what with all the troubles and controversies like this recent scandal brings along with it. However, we still hold on to the fact that one or a couple of idiots do not “idiotize” the whole bunch of doctors. Do you actually know your Patient’s Bill of Rights?

A Nurse’s View

As a registered nurse and a member of the health care team, it is disheartening to have seen that video. You can just imagine how many unwanted people were there in the operating room, laughing all they want at the patient’s fate. That’s just gross, even grosser than the victim’s status then. That was horrible, and those who are involved should not only be suspended but should be de-licensed.

what was your operation by the way? is it okay to share it to me? haha.. or is it better kept to yourself?

well I really searched for the video, and thanks God, the one who uploaded the video in youtube disabled embedding of the video, so I wasn’t tempted to embed the vid here in my blog lest another ban will be up for another Wordpress blog (this one). haha… remember my previous post about WP blogs banned in Brazil? hehe..

wow Zang the video is wicked.. i mean wicked in a negative form.. hehehe.. well, we are not really sure nowadays that confidentiality is observed in hospitals.. maybe its best to investigate regarding the matter.. the health care professionals must face the consequences of their actions and malpractice.. perhaps a 20 year imprisonment would make them realize the devastation they’ve caused to the victim..
