I bought my secondhand Nokia N93i at eBay last April, and I was really happy to have the phone with me. It was a great deal that I made as I would have spent 10,000 pesos more should I bought a brand new one. I got no regrets for buying this certain model, let alone the phone condition given the fact that it was secondhand. There were only some slight scratches on it but overall the phone looks very fine and fully functional.
I think it was last month when my phone has gone somewhat bonkers, perhaps due to the way I treated it. I noticed it took a little sometime for an application to open and run. I didn’t like the hang up. Nonetheless, I didn’t care about it. It was just a slight deviation from the normal operation that it has. Nothing to worry about, really.
Another little problem I had then too was the memory card (miniSD). Memory card-installed applications won’t run until I removed the card and inserted it again, so if you have just turned the phone on you would most likely remove and replace the card. It had to be that way, repeatedly if the phone has gone to a shutdown. Accidentally, I had pushed on the button that allowed for the card to be reformatted, and I was all helpless as the progress bar went on. There wasn’t even the cancel button and the way the progress went it was like a flash of lightning. I love some important files then.
Knowing that it had completely cleaned my memory card, I decided to reformat the phone too. I long-pressed on the call button plus the * and keypad #3 all together when the phone was off. Doing that will render a hard format of your phone.. I was happy then, as it was like the phone was new again, faster and no more hang-ups.
But last week I find my phone acting weird. It often said my phone’s memory is low although I know I didn’t use the phone’s memory as main storage. Checking on this memory shocked me as the used space was way around the full capacity. To my added surprise, this oddity would revert the following day, showing the real, correct memory status. Another problem though was that my saved messages in a folder and some important self-installed apps have vanished! Very intriguing!
So now I will be reformatting my phone, again, in the hope that when it’s done, it will all go back to normal once more. I hope it won’t piss me off sooner…
