Master Rapper Francis Magalona afflicted with leukemia

What started out as blind items in the tabs referring to a singer-actor TV host confined at the ICU is now officially confirmed by Francis Magalona, 43, who is afflicted with leukemia and is confined at Medical City along Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City.

Francis even sent an official statement via a text message to Eat Bulaga and was read on air by Vic Sotto, with the words:

Sa lahat ng mga Dabarkads ko dito sa Eat Bulaga, miss ko na kayong lahat. Araw-araw magkakasama tayo at kayo’y naging second family ko na. Pati na rin lahat ng mga viewers sa mga bahay at studio.

Ngayon, meron akong isang pagsubok na dapat pagdaanan at ang hiling ko lang ay inyong pang-unawa at suporta. I have been diagnosed with leukemia and I am preparing for my treatment. Sa tulong ng Panginoon, kakayanin ko po ito. Abangan nyo ang aking pagbabalik. ‘Di ko lang kayo “miss”… LOVE ko kayong lahat.
Francis’s type of leukemia is treatable, the same type who Hollywood actor Ryan O’Neal survived from.

Francis’s leukemia was initially exhibited with afternoon-fever symptoms, with “dizzy spells” and pallor in the process.

The master rapper needs Type O blood for blood transfusion and may undergo bone marrow transplantation.
Francis is the son of ’50s showbiz royal couple Pancho Magalona (who died from complications of emphysema) and Tita Duran (who died from complications of a kidney ailment).
