I am yet to watch the Iron Man movie, although the chance is thin as I am really busy with my career. Reviews say it’s a movie that’s worth your popcorn and favorite drink. It is even in the number one spot in the Top Box Office with a whooping earnings of $50.5M so far.
Did you know that one of Iron Man’s cinematographers is a Filipino-American? He’s Matthew Libatique, no less. Matthew is also best known for his works on such films as Pi, Requiem for a Dream, and The Fountain. You can tell even by just looking at his nose that indeed he has the Filipino trait in him—that thing we call “pango”.
Well then, it would be such a shame on my part if I don’t get to watch this movie whose behind the superb cinematography is a great Fil-Am bad ass.
Iron Man stars Robert Downey, Jr. playing the role of Tony Stark. The movie also stars Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, Shaun Toub and Stacy Stas. It is directed by Jon Favreau.
As Yahoo! Movies put it, here are the three good reasons to watch the movie:
1. Robert Downey, Jr.’s bad-boy reputation makes him the perfect guy to play this conflicted, unlikely superhero. Downey’s clean, sober, fit, and ready to save the world.
2. The classic comic’s 21st-century makeover consists of more than just trading Vietnam for Afghanistan. The plot’s ethical shades of gray give it more dramatic weight than you’ll find in a standard funny-book adapation.
3. Not convinced yet of Iron Man’s gravitas? Try counting up the stars’ Academy Award nominations. The cast of this little comic book movie has earned a total of seven Oscar nods.
Thanks to Shan for this Fil-Am pride info.
