Eighty-two point four! Didn’t you learn decimal system?

Posted by: Zang Caesar In: Personal| Uncategorized

I went to PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) Davao today, and it was unfortunate of me to have arrived at the place at 12 noon. So instead I went to Gaisano Mall to do a little shopping. When it hit 1 PM, I went back to PRC to get the Certification that my registration is under process, as I will be needing this document for my application as a clinical and classroom instructor at Central Luzon College of Science and Technology.

I got my Certification after around 30 minutes of waiting in the line, and to my dismay, the board rating displayed in the Certification didn’t jive with my true board rating. Instead of 82.40%, what was stipulated there was 82.84%. Although I would love this error as it increased my actual board rating, I had to complain, as this is discrepancy and it may give me problems in the long run. So there I waited again for about an hour and a half to finally get the corrected Certification.

During the wait, I was texting my friend Mckhoii at how irked I was for that as it only lengthened my stay there at the office and how it made me decide to go on absent with my 3-11 duty as a private duty nurse. On the text messaging, I also complained to Mckhoii about the “dumbness” of some PRC staff. So why do I say dumb? Because during my complaining of my mistaken board exam rating, I said that it should be 82.4%, and I really wanted to just shout when a staff would actually interpret it as 82.04%. Grr. It’s on the decimal system my dear, and I didn’t say eighty-two point zero-four; I clearly said eighty-two point four.

“Ahh, eighty-two point forty, not eight-two point zero-four,” the staff corrected me upon re-checking their records for my actual board rating.

My golly! Don’t they know the basics of numbers and decimal points? Even if I said eighty-two point four or forty or four hundred or four thousand or no matter how many zeros I would add to the last part of the number, it is the still same! Don’t they know that? I pity them (them because they were three who did the same) for that.

Anyway, I pity PRC also for the slow release of our professional licenses. I would not wonder any more why the country’s progress is very slow, as almost all the government systems work slow also. Talk about the Voter’s ID, that’s another VERY SLOW thing…

Sigh.
