Beauty is in the hands of the Photoshopper

It is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s true, and forever will be true. However, the beholders these days are, well, apparently deceived by some people who use modern technology to create, or enhance natural into, artificial beauty. Are the models you look up to in the magazines really have that face for you to envy? Are you convinced they are that perfect? Think twice, watch this video.

I have dropped by a blog and saw this video below. This is about Dove’s Real Beauty Campaign for its Dove Self-Esteem Fund.

Reality bites, doesn’t it? I myself had dabbled into Photoshop to erase my imperfections, especially zits as I have loads of them, and perfect the pictures of me. Picture perfect! But the last time I went into Photoshopping my pics was I think last year.

Looking into my friends at Friendster, I have observed that many of them post pictures that are digitally enhanced that they looked like models when I know they aren’t. I am not against them, nor this Photoshop thingy but it seems that these days, what we look up to are these perfected images of people.

SuperChick2115 is right in saying:

I can’t believe some people stand in the mirror and compare themselves to these magazines which aren’t even real, they’re mostly computer stuff! Do you see what we compare ourselves to nowadays? It’s sad.

So now, I know I get insecure at times over those men with perfect skin on magazines, print ad and on the Internet. But now I have a good reason not to envy these guys. Go for natural beauty!

NO WONDER OUR PERCEPTION OF BEAUTY IS DISTORTED.
